Modern Living: Objects and Context
2015
A collaborative exhibition, co-curated by BLDG and Matt Distel of The Carnegie in Covington, KY. We worked with Collin Klimesh of CK-TC Ceramics, Tim Karoleff of Ampersand Brand and Matt Lynch of Simparch to create this surreal outdoor living space.
“Modern Living: Objects and Context is a two-part exhibition exploring the intersection and conflation of design and art objects. The first floor of The Carnegie galleries will present art and design objects in a traditional “gallery” context. Upstairs similar or identical objects by the same artists and design teams will be presented in simulated live/work environments. This conscious decision to examine where and how sculpture and design overlap or diverge was precipitated by a tremendous influx of design build firms into this area brought on, in part, by the increase in restaurants, bars, breweries, offices, and retail environments in downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.”
